Weāve embedded sustainability into our company values and culture. We know that for every action, thereās a reaction and weāre proud to take accountability for each and every one of them. Our sustainability heroes, headed up by our Managing Director Dan, are keeping us in check every day to make sure we donāt just talk about our principles but live by them.
This filters down to who we work with by only sourcing ingredients coming from responsible and sustainable sources. We constantly evaluate and reevaluate our processes looking at innovative ways to reduce our impact on the environment and we aim to be carbon neutral by 2025.
We aim to leave as little waste as possible behind but what we do have is responsibly dealt with. Generally, our waste falls into three main areas: bread ends & other food waste, general waste and packaging (cardboard).
So itās true, no one is that keen on the end piece of the loaf so we give them all to David, a local farmer to feed his sheep!
Thereās also the little food off cuts, the tomato stems, the lettuce butts, so we found a great company called ReFood. They collect our food waste safely and responsibly, then repurpose it into green energy.
Of course we have a certain amount of general waste, collected responsibly by Veolia, and weāre always looking to cut this down. All of our cardboard is collected and recycled by Edwards Recycling Ltd, a lovely bunch who make sure it is mulched down and born again as a new box.
